Civil Air Patrol is a non-profit volunteer organization focusing on Cadet Programs, Emergency Services and Aerospace Education. CAP is also an civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force.
Our cadet program is intended for America’s youth between the ages of 12 to 18 (up to 21 if they are a cadet upon their 18th birthday). The cadet program focuses on leadership, professionalism, military bearing and customs and courtesies. They will also focus in developing healthy life styles by doing physical training and Drug Demand Reduction (DDR, Similar to SAFE and DARE).
Our senior program is intended for adults from the age of 18 and up to volunteer their time, talents, and resources. New members between the ages of 18 and 21 who were not a cadet on their 18th birthday can enter into our Flight Officer program and new members who are over the age of 21 enter into our senior officer program. We offer a variety of opportunities for senior members, especially pilots, including flying, emergency services, youth mentoring and aerospace education in the community.
Members, both cadet and senior, are able to train and be called upon to serve their community, state, and nation as professional volunteers for emergency situations such as disaster relief, search and rescue (SAR) and other missions designated by the United States Air Force.
The Willow Run Composite Squadron is rich with history of service to the Wayne / Washtenaw county and the State of Michigan. Operating out of the historic Willow Run Airport and only minutes from Willow Run’s own Yankee Air Museum, we offer a unique environment for cadets and seniors to operate and grow. Our cadets have a long standing history of excellence and professionalism and our senior member program invites all adults, including pilots, IT professionals, accountants, etc to serve their community when the need arises and participate in outside activities.
